How can one create freely in times of censorship? For Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitri Shostakovich, the answer to this question changed frequently—just like their music.

For the first time under the baton of Jaime Martín, we will read between the lines of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, written in response to severe criticism of his earlier works. Prokofiev’s dynamic Violin Concerto No. 2 will be performed by the rising Swedish-Norwegian star Johan Dalene.
